Town Bridge, in the centre of Croston, a 'pack horse bridge' constructed for under £30,000 in 1672, is perhaps the most painted and photographed view of the River Yarrow. Yet the river has many more faces, even more picturesque, as will be seen from this website.  It also has its problems and challenges needing urgent attention and to this end, "Friends of the River Yarrow" was formed in Millennium Year 2000.  Affectionately known as FrY, this band of volunteers passionately engage themselves in improving the quality of the river and its environment for the benefit of the local community and fishermen alike.
